a post at last!!

its been loooooooooooong since i have updated my blog.and i decided that today should be the day which breaks this break. couldnt find any specific topic to blog on but still, i have to atleast come close to satisfying my page description. have been upto lot of ed work nowadays. and so it shall be my topic of discussion in this post. "listen carefully gentlemen." as the great man always says..

now there are an array of tools that one uses while doing ED work-from a drafter to a compass to a ruler to a ..its a long list i needn't elaborate on. the most important tool in that list according to me is that white rectangular thing called the eraser. i am sure i use it more than anything else, leaving the pencil and the drafter far behind. people have wondered at my expert use of this small but highly useful thing. i can say for sure my drawings would have been mere pencil scribblings in the eyes of that instructor guy had it not been for my rubber(have always wondered why people prefer this name to an eraser which sounds much better). anyway, a rubber is an eraser is a rubber. i only hope that all the marks that i gained due to my dear eraser help increase my grade atleast by one grade from a highly probable C to a B(ya, if it was from B to A or from A to S, i would be the most happiest person in this world). as of now, let me hope that he gives me a 9 or 9.5 out of 10 as he seems to be doing for everyone else in the present assignment. thats if i finish it by tomorrow afty. but if i am comp room, i will never leave it, let alone getting things done. till next time

not living up to my name..

today, as always, i was just seeing the SU's reviews page of my blog(yup, this one)..it caught my notice that someone had indeed taken the time to write a review for my blog.that person was hapinachu, a 17 yr old from the US of America(now, isn't that way of sayin USA funny!!)...but the point is that she has brought to my notice that i no longer am giving the attention befitting my blog-after all, its me who describes it as Fart, fart and more fart...daily updated.. but the frequency of my posts is far far away from that description. the last 3 posts have come over a period of about 2-3 weeks or so. and its because of this that i decided that its time that my blog needs me more than anyone else to survive in this fast paced world..(yay!! i am back in form, i guess..thats fart of the highest quality)

now for some updates on the hostel comp room...a landmark decision was taken(finally!!) to stop using windows on all comps and wholeheartedly switch over to Fedora Core2 from now on...a really good decision i should say but the thing is that its come a little too late-people are so accustomed to Windows(sh*t, does it deserve that capital W?!?)media player and netscan and a yahoo messenger that keeps belting out audibles as if thats what its meant to be-one guy keeps sending that one eyed stone-age guy saying...(do i need to say what it says? haven't you used it often enough to recognise it by now?) and the most important thing, appearing offline to one GF while chatting away for hours together with another and so on...none of this is going to be possible in the linux version of Y! Messenger that he is forced to use from now on. wouldn't that be a rude shock? and also, a comp has been stripped of its net connectivity and is to be dedicated solely to academic purposes-that is the most ridiculous thing i have heard of!! wtf man? no movies, no games but a comp dedicated to acads!! this is unjustifiable especially in the situation that exists in the institute-each person gets a room of his own with its own net connection(24 X 7,100MBPS LAN), not to forget the big DCFs that exist for each department with around 100 comps. the decision is deplorable and unexplainable. but then, i am just a student after all.

PS:i may need to install stuff on the linux comps but the comp room sec has changed the blooody root pw and i am finding no good means of getting to know it. doin it on windows was much easier-as always, windows has many doors of oppurtunity left open!! if any of you can help, i would be very thankful :)

back...ya maybe without a bang

its been a really loooooooooooooooooooooooong time since i put up my last blog..my sincere apoligies to sincere followers of my blog-hope you have not lost hope yet(or why else would you be back here again?!? :D )

the last week has been one hectic week with lots of stuff happening on (and off too) campus. the elections in the institute on tuesday were without any doubt the talking point all through the last week. And what an experience they turned out to be. a really enlightening one to say the least. it gave me the oppurtunity to have a look at the insti from a different perspective-a really really different one that has taught me a lot of things..it has proven brazenly the fact that what meets the eye is not always the truth-there's a whole big lot that goes on behind closed doors. its upto us to keep ourselves open to any school of thought and not be narrow minded.(hey wait a second, whats the title of this blog? isn't it "the fart lair"? but isnt all this very true? why am i spoiling the name of my blog?!? i am going mad-the elections....) i guess i needn't put fundaes to thy reader, you must have enough yourself. or else, go have a look at the regionalism thread on IITM's election eboard-that should give you a very good idea of the present situation that exists in one of the so-called best colleges in the country...

other than that, there has been a lot of stuff also going on which warrants my attention..but due to lack of time, i leave it here to take it up sometime later..

this sem...

the second sem has gone in a quite unexpected way-a few good developments, the saarang experience, more courses, give up level acads, elections....its been very very different from what the first semester was-a comparatively quiet, subdued sem with not much activity. the only thing of note that was held on a large scale that i can remember from last sem was shaastra but it too was too high funda for poor guys like me-i was bulbing at every possible event i tried to take part in(ok ok, i dont mean to say that i did manage to do something significant at saarang). the point is that this sem seems to be going so fast that i cant remember whats being taught in classes(shit, when the hell did i attend classes this sem?!?) long enough till the quizzes. and on top of all this, the hostel comp room also has opened giving room to one of the best ways to use spare time(read "time got by bunking unnecessary maths n phy classes"+evening time(when i dont have nss)+post grub time till 1-add that up and i am sure that it will turn out to be much more than whatever lecture hours i attend which usually nowadays is struggling to touch 5 per day)..

now what does all this mean? it means a lot for my acads..a really big lot. i am literally struggling to touch even half the max marks, thats almost equal to the class average. man, IIT has changed me a lot...ya, this is not a claim-its the fact, the plain truth. i am sure there are many IITians out there who will nod in unison to this fact. but, after a bit of thought, it gets you cofused as to who is the real culprit-the sytem itself or the environs or something else...to be fair to everyone, i place the blame squarely on the system-isnt that the time tested way? that too its been proven to be successful to people from all walks of life? so, its the system that has to be reloaded(its not a gun but still...) in a new form bla bla bla.....no use of me putting suggestons here-its not gonna reach the eyes of those having the power in their hands.

enough blog i think...just felt like typing after some a 3 day lull. i have managed to satisfy my hunger....what about yours? :)
